Strathalbyn Road

We are upgrading Strathalbyn Road, between Strathalbyn and Stirling to improve road safety for all users.

The South Australian Government is delivering the Adelaide Hills Productivity and Road Safety Package, to upgrade some of the region’s key strategic arterial roads. The $150 million initiative, jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian governments (80:20) over five years, includes a range of road improvements to support economic growth, improve road safety and increase fire resilience in the Adelaide Hills area.

As part of this package of road safety improvements, maintenance works on Strathalbyn Road are continuing and some vegetation has been removed.

After careful consideration, the tree on Strathalbyn Road at Biggs Flat, which some members of the local community had requested to be saved, was required to be removed for safety reasons.

We have collected seeds from the tree and provided them to the local community for planting and will be saving the wood from the tree to reuse it in the future. Some tree material has also been collected by members of the community and will be used for tree propagation through tissue culture. We are also committed to undertake off-set planting in the local community.

We have worked hard to balance the interests of the community whilst importantly ensuring the safety of our road users.
