Project Background
The Adelaide Hills Productivity and Road Safety Package aims to upgrade some of the region’s key strategic arterial roads. The $150 million initiative, jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian government’s (80:20), includes a range of road improvements to support economic growth, improve road safety and increase fire resilience in the Adelaide Hills area.
While the planning and design is progressing across these key road corridors, Onkaparinga Valley Road between Verdun and Woodside was identified as a location for early safety upgrades.
These works include:
- road resurfacing improving skid resistance;
- improving and widening sealed shoulders;
- widening seal width at bus stops to reduce through traffic crossing centreline;
- widening of side roads to reduce drag out of loose debris; and
- new line marking.
