City of Playford/Town of Gawler - Dalkeith Road
In June 2024, the City of Playford and the Town of Gawler submitted a Stage 1 potential proposal to the Commission for support for an administrative boundary change at Dalkeith Road.
Historically, the City of Playford and Town of Gawler have shared the cost and responsibility for maintenance and renewal of Dalkeith Road, in accordance with Section 214 of the Local Government Act 1999. It was believed that the boundary between the two Councils was the centreline of Dalkeith Road.
The historic treatment of Dalkeith Road by both Councils has been one of shared ownership, maintenance, and renewal responsibility and both Councils agree that it is in the interest of both Councils for this approach to continue.
Therefore, the Councils jointly seek to move the boundary along the length of Dalkeith Road to the centreline of the road corridor to formalise current practice.
