Woodside Intersection Upgrade

About the project

We are delivering the Adelaide Hills Productivity and Road Safety (PRS) Package to upgrade key strategic arterial roads in the region. The road improvements will support economic growth, improve road safety and increase fire resilience. The $150 million initiative is jointly funded by the Australian Government (80%) and South Australian Government (20%) over five years.

The State Government has committed funding to improve road safety in the Adelaide Hills, this includes upgrading the staggered-T intersection of Onkaparinga Valley Road, Tiers Road and Nairne Road in Woodside.

We have developed a draft concept design and are now seeking your input to help inform the final design (see below). The preferred concept design extends the existing painted median to the north, does not require property acquisition and includes a pedestrian refuge near the Woodside Library.

Safety Improvements

The preferred concept design aims to deliver:

  • A new pedestrian crossing on Onkaparinga Valley Road near the Woodside Library that will provide safer pedestrian and cyclist movements
  • Increased safety for all users of the junctions
  • Improved functionality and access for heavy vehicles which includes an extension of painted medians to provide greater separation of general traffic

Have your say

Feedback on the draft concept design is now closed.  Thank you to all community members who took part in our consultation during June and July 2025. We are now reviewing all feedback and will provide a consultation summary in the coming weeks.
