North East Road and Torrens Valley Road

About the project

We are delivering the Adelaide Hills Productivity and Road Safety Package to upgrade key strategic arterial roads in the region. The road improvements will support economic growth, improve road safety and increase fire resilience. The $150 million initiative is jointly funded by the Australian Government (80%) and South Australian Government (20%) over five years.

In late 2022, we sought community feedback on proposed upgrades throughout the Adelaide Hills as part of the Adelaide Hills Productivity and Road Safety Package (AHPRS).

North East Road and Torrens Valley Road were identified as key arterial roads in the Adelaide Hills that would benefit from safety upgrades.

During community consultation, the condition of the existing road surface and narrow curves, which make it difficult to pass cyclists safely, were raised as key concerns for North East Road and Torrens Valley Road.

This feedback has helped inform the final design for safety improvements on North East Road and Torrens Valley Road between Houghton and Gumeracha.
