Mawson Road, Battunga Road and Nottage Road Intersection Upgrade, Meadows

About the project

We are delivering the Adelaide Hills Productivity and Road Safety (PRS) Package to upgrade key strategic arterial roads in the region. The road improvements will support economic growth, improve road safety and increase fire resilience. The $150 million initiative is jointly funded by the Australian Government (80%) and South Australian Government (20%) over five years.

The intersection of Mawson Road, Battunga Road and Nottage Road in Meadows has been identified as a key location in the Adelaide Hills that would benefit from safety upgrades. The State Government has now committed funding to improve road safety in the Adelaide Hills by upgrading the intersection.

A single-lane roundabout at Mawson Road, Battunga Road and Nottage Road intersection in Meadows has been identified as the best treatment for improving safety at this location.

We have developed a draft concept design which can be viewed below. We would now like to hear from you to gather local insights to inform the detailed final design of the roundabout.

Delivering safer and improved roads in the Adelaide Hills

Making it safer for pedestrians and cyclists to cross Mawson Road

Improved access for heavy vehicles

Safety Improvements

The construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Mawson Road, Battunga Road and Nottage Road was selected as the preferred treatment, as it aims to deliver:

  • improved safety and traffic efficiency for all users throughout the intersection
  • new and upgraded crossing facilities that provide safer pedestrian and cyclist movements at the intersection, including new raised pedestrian crossings, and pedestrian crossing refuges
  • improved functionality and access for heavy vehicles

Community Engagement

Feedback on the draft concept design is now closed.  Thank you to all community members who took part in our consultation throughout June 2025. We are now reviewing all feedback and will provide a consultation summary in the coming weeks.
