O'Sullivan Beach.
About the project
We have upgraded the O’Sullivan Beach Boat Ramp facility.
Built in 1983, the boat ramp is an important part of South Australia’s marine infrastructure. It is popular with recreational boat users, as well as an important facility for emergency services to launch and retrieve vessels.
What we did
The upgrade works included:
- construction of an additional boat lane, increasing launch capacity
- installation of a new L-shaped pontoon, increasing boat tie-up capacity
- enhancement of the existing concrete ramps
- replacement of existing pontoons
- widening the vehicle maneuvering area
- provision for two new accessible car parking spaces close to the pontoons.
Community feedback
Following extensive community feedback, we increased the project scope to include operational improvements to the existing traffic management system and the washing and rigging bays.
These treatments will help:
- reduce congestion during peak periods
- improve access for facility users
- improve traffic flow for vehicles.
Additional treatments included:
- installation of new traffic and directional signage to improve traffic flow around the washing and rigging bays
- installation of regulatory parking signage at washing bays
- installation of a dedicated Emergency Services rigging bay and associated line marking
- updated line marking to assist with traffic flow, specifically the washing and rigging bays.
