In a mammoth effort by all members of the project team, the Darlington Upgrade Project’s first major bridge installation has been successfully completed well ahead of schedule, with Main South Road and the Southern Expressway reopened to traffic by late Sunday morning (26 November, 2017) more than 21 hours ahead of schedule

The Darlington Upgrade Project team lent their assistance to the City of Marion and the Living Kaurna Cultural Centre for a youth event during Reconciliation week. Around 130 young people attended and enjoyed a range of fun activities, including the bubble soccer game we provided for the day.

Two new bridges for the Darlington Upgrade Project have been constructed 'off-site' and moved into position, in an Australian-first for a civil construction project. South Australian business Bow Hill Engineering fabricated 10 bridge segments at its River Murray workshop, creating local jobs and opportunity for the South Australian business to expand.

Separated two-way cycling paths and footpaths will be provided along both sides of the road corridor as part of the Darlington Upgrade Project (where space allows) enhancing linkages for pedestrians and cyclists in the area

The Project Team joined forces with the Living Kaurna Cultural Centre and Forbes Primary School to build, paint and install nesting boxes in the Warriparinga Wetlands to create homes for native wildlife.

On April 16, 2017 The Darlington Upgrade Project team lent their assistance to the Lonsdale RSPCA to spread some Easter cheer by donating mulch to help redevelop their new Hoppitsville rabbit enclosure. The lucky bunnies enjoyed a hop around on the new mulch just in time for Easter.

Gateway South, a joint venture between Fulton Hogan and Laing O'Rourke has been awarded the major works contract for the $620 million Darlington Upgrade Project. The team also includes KBR, SMEC, Coffey, Tract, Cox Architects, Resonate, Gould Thorpe Planning and Jensen planning and Design. Construction is set to commence in early 2016 and be completed by mid-2019.
