Welcome to Way2Go

Way2Go is a statewide program that helps South Australian primary school communities choose safe, green and more active travel for students and their communities. It uses a partnership between local councils, school communities and the Department for Infrastructure and Transport.

What Way2Go supports

  • students and the school community safely walking, riding bikes or scooters, and using public transport to travel to school
  • students developing confident and safe road user skills
  • promoting the development of safe, people friendly local streets near schools that encourage active travel
  • evidence based planning to support long term behaviour change
  • school road safety education practices embedded within the regular curriculum.

Way2Go schools work with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport and their local council to create a School Travel Plan tailored to their needs. Schools receive planning support, access to resources and targeted funding for initiatives such as bike and scooter parking or small infrastructure upgrades, see Way2Go in Action.
