Strzelecki Track Upgrade and Sealing Project

About the project
The Strzelecki Track is 472 kilometres of unsealed rural road. The track links the towns of Lyndhurst to Innamincka in the north east of South Australia. The track is:
- a vital supply link for nationally significant oil and gas extraction facilities near Moomba in the Cooper and Eromanga Basins
- an essential transport corridor for outback communities, tourism and pastoralists.
Unsealed roads are inaccessible during wet weather and flood events. It has a negative effect on the efficient and safe operations of road users.
The Strzelecki Track Upgrade and Sealing Project will include:
- sealing of Strzelecki Track between Lyndhurst and Innamincka
- installation of upgraded stormwater and drainage infrastructure
- key intersection upgrades
- road widening and shoulder sealing.

Road conditions are unpredictable and can change quickly. We advise road users to check local weather, road warnings and closures before travelling and drive to conditions.
What's happening
Floodwaters continue to impact the road network in northeast Outback regions of South Australia and multiple areas of the Strzelecki Track are currently impassable.
As water recedes initial site assessments are being undertaken in conjunction with Yandruwandha Yawarrawarrka Traditional Owners.
Works are being undertaken on areas south of flood waters where possible.
We are continuing to monitor the situation, and more information will be made available in the coming weeks.
