About the project
Mount Barker is currently a major growth area in the Adelaide Hills.
The current Mount Barker Interchange is subject to significant congestion and queuing, with 43 crashes reported between 2019 and 2023. Upgrading this interchange will improve capacity, traffic efficiency and commuter safety in the area.
These works are part of the South Eastern Freeway Interchanges upgrades.
Major construction at the Mount Barker Interchange is planned to start in late 2025. The interchange is expected to be open to traffic in late 2027.
