Swanport Bridge upgrade
About the project
The Swanport Bridge project is a priority project for Stage 1 of the High Productivity Vehicle Network (HPVN) program which is focused on improving freight productivity on existing corridors by moving more freight with less vehicles, enhancing safety for all road users.
The bridge is part of the South Eastern Freeway which provides the most direct connection between Adelaide and Melbourne and is projected to carry more freight traffic by 2050 with national growth in road freight forecasted to increase by 77% between 2020 and 2050.
Upgrades to the bridge will improve road safety and efficiency for all users, improve freight productivity and importantly improve the resilience of this critical road link.
