Achieving a major reduction in road trauma requires a unified approach between governments, industries, communities and road users.

As we head towards our 2020 targets to reduce serious casualties during the decade by at least 30 per cent - to less than 80 fatalities and less than 800 serious injuries per year - direction, engagement and participation are critical.

• Department for Infrastructure and Transport manages the state arterial network, regulates the safety of drivers and vehicles, undertakes safety management and coordinating activities such as data analysis, policy development and community education.
• SA Police is responsible for road safety enforcement.
• Local Government Association of South Australia represents community interests and manages local road networks.
• Centre for Automotive Safety Research (CASR), a road safety research facility at n the University of Adelaide, conducts projects to reveal the extent and type of problems on our roads, to prioritise interventions and to evaluate the impact of interventions and other actions.
• Royal Automobile Association of South Australia (RAA) represents the views and interests of almost 600,000 South Australians.
• Many community road safety groups are active throughout South Australia.

Other agencies also play a significant role including the departments for Health, Education and Children's Services and the South Australian Emergency Services.

The National Road Safety Partnership Program (NRSPP) is a collaborative network for businesses, governments and researchers to share information and good practice regarding road safety. It facilitates knowledge sharing to help businesses choose and implement the right tools for their operational needs and measure and evaluate the outcomes. It is hosted by the ARRB Group.
