Approximately 86,000 plants will be planted throughout the Darlington Project site. The plants are a mixture of semi-mature and tube stock planting that will introduce layers of greenery and colour throughout the road corridor and adjacent pathways.
A major project milestone was achieved in late July with the new lowered motorway and the Main South Road bridge to the lowered motorway being opened to traffic.

This Sturt Road bridge is one of eight bridges being constructed as part of the project and is being built using the traditional top- down construction method.

The Darlington Upgrade Project hosted an outdoor community cinema on Friday as a thank you to the local community and stakeholders for their patience during construction.
Concrete beams for the new Flinders Drive bridge were installed this month signifying a huge milestone for the project. 14 beams were installed over a weekend and provide the foundation of the new structure.

Gateway South, a joint venture between Fulton Hogan and Laing O'Rourke has been awarded the major works contract for the $667 million Darlington Upgrade Project. The team also includes KBR, SMEC, Coffey, Tract, Cox Architects, Resonate, Gould Thorpe Planning and Jensen planning and Design. Construction is set to commence in early 2016 and be completed by mid-2019.
