Boating Safety Survey now out for Recreational Boaters

Friday, 21 June 2019

The Department ran an online survey in 2020 to better understand the knowledge, skills and behaviours of South Australian recreational boaters.

The Boating Safety Survey, which ran until April 2020, will help inform the Department’s Marine Safety team plan its future safety education programs and activities.

The Marine Safety team also hosted a display at the 2019 Adelaide Boat Show, at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

The display featured information about new speed limits for the Port Adelaide River and lifejacket regulations, while Marine Safety Officers will be available to answer questions about any general boating safety matter.

It is recommended that those who wish to attempt the boat licence exam engage in some learning by studying the SA Boating Safety Handbook or visiting the Marine Safety website, where a practice exam is available.

Upon successful completion of the exam, a licence application form will be endorsed and must then be presented at any Service SA centre, along with proof of age and identity and payment of the licence fee.
