Tram Grade Separation Projects

Tram Grade Separation Projects

We’re removing three congested tram level crossings and building new overpasses at Plympton and Morphettville. We’re also rebuilding the tram overpass at Glandore.

New overpasses for trams, cyclists and pedestrians

About the project

We're working with the Tram Grade Separation Projects Alliance to:

  • make journeys safer and more reliable for everyone
  • improve safety for local residents, motorists, pedestrians, cyclists and tram drivers
  • provide new, safer and more accessible tram stops with improved pedestrian access
  • improve connection and sense of community between the suburbs either side of the tram line
  • elevate the Mike Turtur bikeway as a shared use path alongside the tram line
  • create new community open space under the overpasses for locals to enjoy.

What's happening

We are removing three level crossings where the Glenelg tram line crosses:

  • Marion Road, Plympton
  • Cross Road, Plympton
  • Morphett Road, Morphettville.

We are also rebuilding the South Road Tram Overpass to accommodate the River Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Project lowered motorway.
