About the project

We are upgrading North East Road and Torrens Valley Roads between Houghton and Gumeracha in the Adelaide Hills. The upgrades aim to improve road safety and driveability for all road users.

What's happening

We'll deliver a range of key treatments to improve safety. These include:

  • a new road surface

  • road and curve widening

  • new safety barriers with motorcycle protection

  • new line marking including audio tactile line marking (ATLM)

  • new signage

Timeline

Early works

Site establishment, service locating, surveying and vegetation management.
Started June 2025.

Construction underway

Started July 2025.

Open to traffic

Mid-2026.
