Hi-vis connection with community

When team members on the Regency Road to Pym Street Project noticed young admirers watching construction work from neighbouring properties, they stepped up to make a community connection.

Some of the youngsters were presented with mini hi-vis vests and hard hats to make them feel part of the team.

One grandmother took to Facebook full of praise for the move, saying her grandson very much appreciated the gift. “It is worn a lot, and he has become very educated on the specific roles of various machinery – a very rewarding experience for a little boy, thanks again to the crews,” she posted.

Well done, R2P team.

Working together delivers results

We received a great commendation this week from an external facilitator who reached out for assistance with a function at one of our sister departments, and found Workforce Transformation and Change directorate staff ready and willing to help.

An important SA Health function needed a new venue at the last minute and our team stepped up to provide a location and facilitate safe and easy access to our 77 Grenfell Street building.

A letter of thanks noted “your kindness and quick response is an example of the public service working across boundaries at its absolute best”.

Thanks to those involved for taking up the challenge and meeting the need so quickly.

Gawler electrification looking up

In a sure sign of progress on the Gawler Rail Electrification Project, the first run of overhead wiring was installed on the line this week.

About 450km of overhead wire will be installed throughout the project, which will allow electric powered trains to travel between Adelaide and Gawler, offering environmental and travel benefits.

Friday Flashback

Today’s Friday Flashback visits the site of our new office building, at 83 Pirie Street, as it appeared in 1895. Thanks to Roger Langford from Service SA for putting us on to this great piece of history.
