The Department for Infrastructure and Transport builds and maintains South Australian state-owned infrastructure and is responsible for all of the State’s transport networks. This executive appointment for a period of up to 3 years provides the successful appointee with the unique and exciting opportunity to expand on their extensive government experience and significant legal expertise

Reporting directly to the Director, Legal, Commercial and Assurance, this executive will provide critical high level legal advice to the Chief Executive and Executive Directors across the Department, leading, guiding and directing the internal legal team in the proactive management of relevant matters and any emerging issues. The Legal Counsel will work with the Executive Solicitor of the out-posted team from the Crown Solicitor’s Office and with officers from across the Department to support the delivery of our target outcomes whilst dealing with legal aspects appropriately.

The Legal Counsel, Legal Services will have relevant tertiary qualifications in Law and hold a current practising certificate from the Law Society of South Australia, will have high level legal analytical and research skills, be commercially astute and have strong interpersonal skills along with knowledge of legislative processes and an adaptive approach to managing change.

South Australian Public Transport Authority (SAPTA), a Division of the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT), is seeking a new Executive Director, following retirement of the incumbent, to lead the organisation in delivering more customer-focused public transport.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive of DIT, the Executive Director, SAPTA will bring extensive experience leading a team with diverse technical skills in a fast moving service environment to deliver better outcomes for customers. You will shape and lead a program of engagement with customers and the community, and orchestrate the work of the SAPTA team and contracted service delivery partners to identify and deliver a steady stream of incremental service improvements.

We seek applications from suitably qualified and experienced executives with outstanding leadership and interpersonal communication skills, who can work with a committed team with the technical know-how to deliver outcomes for customers. Your communication skills and demonstrated ability to motivate and influence to cultivate high performance will be pivotal to your success in this role. Complementing this will be a commercially astute and financially disciplined approach.

Special Conditions
