KEY FACTS:

499 people have been seriously injured on South Australian roads during 2012, compared with 625 during 2011.

66 people have been seriously injured in AUGUST 2012.

42 serious injuries were males and 24 were females.

51 were vehicle occupants, 9 were motorcycle riders, 5 were pedestrians and 1 was a cyclist.

In AUGUST 2012, there were 34 serious injuries in the country and 32 in Adelaide.

Of the 55 serious injury crashes in AUGUST 2012, 37 involved a single vehicle and 18 involved more than one vehicle.
47 crashes involved a single serious injury and 8 involved multiple serious injuries.
